Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book an escape room?

Please reserve your escape room experience in advance at escapehousechicago.com/book-your-escape

Will I be playing with other participants?

Unless you book the entire mission , you will likely be paired with other players in your quest to escape the room. It's a fun way to meet new people and make friends.

Can I come by myself? Is it better with a group?

You can buy a single ticket or an entire party. Your goal will be to escape; therefore your mission will be more enjoyable when playing with four players or more. If you are buying just one or two tickets we recommend booking a slot that already has other players in it.

Can I book an entire room?

To book an entire room, you should search for an available time slot and purchase the maximum capacity (10 players) for that specific mission.

How do I book multiple participants at the same time?

Simply select the number of players you will be bringing in the drop down menu at the top of our booking page.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes, advance reservations are strongly recommended and can be booked at escapehousechicago.com/book-your-escape . Walk-ins and last minute reservations may be available; please call (312) 981-6633 if you aren’t able to book your room online.

Can we pick a time that isn’t available on your calendar?

Absolutely! If you are with a group and need a daytime spot, please call (312) 981-6633 and we will work with you to reserve a spot.

Am I really going to be “locked” in a room?

No. You will be in a room with a closed door during your mission. However, should you feel the need to leave the room, you are able to do so at any time.

This is so cool, I love tearing things apart :)

You will NOT be tearing things apart. You and your fellow agents are not here to destroy, but to uncover. James Bond doesn’t punch holes in walls, tear paintings off walls or shove tools into light switches. He carefully examines clues and collects evidence in a calm manner until he solves the crime, rescues the damsel, etc. Our props and clues are designed to be looked at, examined and interacted with, but if you break or destroy something with malicious intent, you will be held responsible to pay for it.

Is it scary?

EscapeHouse missions are not scary; however, there is time pressure and there will be some moments that may surprise you. Our games are FUN and in the end you will leave with a feeling of heightened adrenaline.

How early should I arrive for my mission?

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your escape room experience start time. All missions will begin exactly at their start times; late arrivals may be less likely to escape or may not be allowed to play.

How much does it cost?

Games are $35.00 per person plus tax.

What are my chances of winning?

Anyone can escape, but not all do. Teamwork is a must. The success ratio of our escape rooms is predicted to be around 60%. Check back soon for actual success rates posted on our Facebook page and website. Remember, it isn’t only about escaping, but how quickly you and your fellow agents escape.

Can we bring alcohol? Do you sell it?

Participating under the influence is strongly discouraged. We do not sell alcohol and do not allow drinks while playing the game. Successfully escaping requires skill, and playing intoxicated would limit your ability to decipher clues and contribute to the team effort.

What are nearby options for dining and/or drinks?

The EscapeHouse is located in the heart of Chicago’s River North neighborhood, with an abundance of great restaurants and bars. After you are done, there will be plenty of options to recap your experience over a beer or a cocktail. As a matter of fact, we may provide you with coupons for some of our favorite places.

How do I pay?

All bookings are made online and paid in advance via credit card at the time of booking.

What if I need to cancel? What is your refund policy?

Unfortunately, our missions are non-refundable; however, we will try to accommodate rescheduling if you contact us at least 24 hours prior to your start time.

Where can I park?

There are several parking garages located within a block or two from our location on Ontario Street. Click here for a parking map.

Is there an age limit? What about families?

Our games are recommended for ages 14 and up. Younger players are allowed, but some of the game content may be too challenging for them. Players that are under 18 must be accompanied by a paying adult. We have designated Family Missions with set times posted here; these rooms are exactly the same but children ages 8 and up are permitted. To reserve other time slots for families/children, it is possible to purchase all ten slots for a private room.

Are ticket sales on your website secure?

Yes. All ticket sales go through a secure HTTPS booking link (via Bookeo), but the address bar shows our address. Click here to learn more about this.

Can you accommodate private parties/corporate events/team-building?

Yes! The largest total number of participants our two rooms can accommodate at one time is 20 players. There are ways, through multiple time slots, to accommodate larger groups. Our post-mission team debrief further enhances your group's team-building experience.
